TEHRAN -- Photos by four Iranian photographers are currently on display at the Kashya Hilderbrand Gallery in Zurich, Switzerland.
Photos by Haleh Anvari, Gohar Dashti, Shadi Qadirian and Malekeh Naeeini are on display at the exhibit entitled “Staging Identity”.Osama Esid, Sissi Farassat and Asad Faulwell are other photographers whose works are on show at the event which is curated by Jolaine Frizzell.
The showcase focusing on “performance and irony in contemporary middle eastern photography” will run until April 16.
Selection of Rudaki poems now available in English and Tajik
TEHRAN -- The ECO Cultural Institute is publishing a book of selected poems by the Persian poet Rudaki in Persian, English and Tajik.
The book will be unveiled during a ceremony to be attended by Iran’s Minister of Culture and his counterpart on Saturday at the venue of the ECO Cultural Institute.
Nastaran Nosratzadegan has translated the poems into English. The Russian version was made available by Irana Zamani and Shah Mansur Shah-Mirza has translated the poems into Tajik.
The institute is located on No.10, Naz Valley, off Aqdasieh Ave.
Iranian anthologist Mahmud Ruholamini dies at 82
TEHRAN -- Iranian anthologist and sociologist Mahmud Ruholamini died of a heart attack on Tuesday. He was 82.
Ruholamini was selected as Iran’s eternal figure in anthropology in 2003. He was among the founders of the Gilan Museum of Rural Heritage.
His body was buried in the Artists Section of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery on Wednesday.
Nuri Award ceremony postponed
TEHRAN -- The Nuri Award ceremony, which was planned to be held from March 9 to 11 at the Vahdat Hall has been postponed.
Entitle “Singing with Love”; the ceremony had been planned for unveiling the award in memory of the deceased solo tenor singer Mohammad Nuri in three fields including composing songs, music composition and orchestra conducting.
The ceremony was postponed due to “illness of some artists and executive officials” and will probably be held in spring 2011, Managing director of Iran’s House of Music Mohammad Sarir told the Persian service of ISNA.
The exact date of the ceremony will be announced in the near future.
